About Mrs. Covey

About Me

My name is Jamie Covey. This year marks my twelfth year in the teaching profession and I can truly say that I have thoroughly enjoyed what I’ve been doing. This is, by far, the most challenging and rewarding thing I have ever done and at this point in time, I can’t see myself doing anything else. This year will be my eighth at Marrero Academy, and if I’ve learned anything from the past seven years it’s that we have the best students, teachers, and parents that any school could ask for! Go Mudbugs!

Just a Little Info About Myself

The past year has been both exciting and challenging, as my husband and I welcomed our second child into our family. Our daughters are three years old and three months old and they both have brought a great deal of joy into our lives! We look forward to what the future holds for our family!

I grew up in California, but my family’s history is deeply rooted in Louisiana. So, needless to say, that is precisely why I moved here in 2001 to go to college. I graduated from the University of New Orleans with a degree in Elementary Education in 2005 and started teaching in the fall of 2006.

I consider myself a very easy going person. I love spending time with my husband and daughters, my family, and my friends. I come from a pretty close-knit family. I keep in constant contact with my parents and I am very close to my older brother and sister, as well as my nine nieces and nephews. They keep me pretty busy!

I love animals and for the longest time my husband and I only had one cat (Lucy), but over the years we have adopted three new additions to our family. Our Catahoula Leopard Dog (Hunter), Siamese cat (Emma), and orange tabby (Minnie) have helped add excitement to our lives!
